About Me
My name is Katarina Blumenstein

Experience

Project Management
As a Creative Project Management Intern on PowerPod (the Universal Studios Hollywood commercial scrum team) with the Digital & Technology team at Universal Parks & Resorts (now known as Universal Destinations & Experiences), I project managed the creative aspects of marketing initiatives for the app, website, in-park signage, CityWalk signage, signage around Universal City and Los Angeles, and more!
Themed Experience Drafting & Design
Using previous knowledge learned in school about design and drafting, I expanded on that knowledge with FrankNDesign as a Show Set Design Intern where I learned more about research for concepts and design development, along with how to 3D model using Revit to create show set models.
Entertainment Events
As an Entertainment Costume Lead, Dresser, and Runner for Marquee Events at Universal Orlando Resort I ensure the costumes for performers are maintained and prepared to show standards, make quick decisions to resolve issues that arise, document daily notes and repairs, and communicate across multiple teams to ensure updates and decisions are aligned for all teams of the production.
Creative Fabrication
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many creative jobs were put on hold and many creatives in the themed entertainment industry were out of work. While in school, I took this time to develop my skills in creative fabrication with my classes and through Slice Creative Network's community involvement in the Picture Perfect Holidays event with Curry Ford West.
Where Education Meets Experience
Exploring the Industry
University of Central Florida's Rosen College of Hospitality Management
After studying production design at Valencia College, I decided to study the business and management sides of the themed entertainment industry. In addition to leading and designing projects in classes, I got involved in student organizations to further build on my networking and leadership skills that I can apply in the workplace.
Valencia College
At Valencia College, I studied production design where I learned about all aspects of creating a production, worked on physical productions and theoretical productions (due to the impacts of COVID-19), and got to research and design for sets, costumes, props, and more!
Art of Tomorrow Scholars
The Art of Tomorrow Scholars program supplemented my high school education and aided in kickstarting my career in the entertainment industry. This program taught me about different jobs and career pathways I can take professionally, providing tours and shadowing opportunities to meet professionals in their specialties. I interned through this program with Universal Orlando Resort's Art & Design department where I toured their entertainment venues and worked closely with design and operations teams to design and problem-solve for an entertainment research project. This project then transitioned to mentoring and leading a group of high school seniors in developing the project's presentation, which was later presented to a board of executives.
